The Three Keys of Future Potential

The Three Keys of Future Potential

By: Ross Paterson

Over the past two weeks I have dealt with a harried realtor who wasn’t keeping up with his commitments, a busy executive who has convinced herself she is the only one who can manage an out of state project, and a chiropractor with big ideas for new services, but no time or finances to expand.

Business owners and leaders, if you don’t have time to work on top strategic priorities for your business and team, whose job is it to fix that problem?  If you wait 6-12 months to ‘find time’ to lead your business forward, how many competitors are passing you by?  Here is a three-step prescription to overcome this problem.

KEY #1: CHANGE YOUR MINDSET  Stand in front of a mirror and say this to yourself. “I don’t have time to work on the most important priorities.”  See how ridiculous that sounds?  Owners and leaders, you can’t afford this mindset in a hot economy.

KEY #2: ADD A RESOURCE  Add a part time administrative resource as soon as possible.  Stop doing the $15/hour and below tasks, learn to delegate, clear your mind for the highest value work.

KEY #3: CONTROL YOUR SCHEDULE . Schedule blocks of time, 60-90 minutes, 2-3 times per week, to work on the most important work.  It is an appointment with your future potential business.
