The Teacher Becomes the Student

The Teacher Becomes the Student

By: Ross Paterson

I spent Saturday in a ‘train-the-trainer’ workshop as a student.  Highly skilled trainers from Rotary International were in town to teach 20 leaders how to help local Rotary Clubs create strategic clarity and accelerate their impact. (If you don’t know anything about Rotary, click here to find a local club to visit)

Quite refreshing to be the student for a change. Tom, one of our facilitators, boiled the whole strategic planning process down to these five simple questions:

  1. Who are we?
  2. Where are we?
  3. Where do we want to be?
  4. How will we get there?
  5. How do we know we have arrived?

We are halfway through 2016.  Do you and your team have clear answers to these questions?  Small business, non-profit, churches, schools, and governments all need answers to these questions.  Leaders if we don’t have answers, we are not doing our job.
