We celebrated the charter of a new Rotary Club last week in Keller, Texas. Rotary International is a world-changing service organization that I whole-heartedly serve and endorse.
The Charter Dinner was the result of a vision that the Board of Directors created in the spring of 2012. I love seeing challenging visions become reality. Because I know there is a passionate leadership story behind each success. Jack Welch, legendary CEO of General Electric in the 80’s and 90’s, had this to say about vision:
“Good business leaders CREATE a vision, ARTICULATE the vision, passionately OWN the vision, and relentlessly DRIVE it to completion.”
Most small business owners and leaders understand this need, but neglect to put it into practice. Which reminds me of another quote from Proverbs 27:18
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Embracing the wisdom of these two quotes will lead organizations to the Xtra Mile.
