Business plans for bank loans and investors look very different from business plans small business teams need for execution.  Once you have finished writing out your Vision (see last blog) it needs to be turned into a plan.  Every small business should have a plan and measurable goals for each of these six areas.

  • Marketing
  • Sales
  • Operations
  • People
  • Finance
  • Systems and Processes

 

If you don’t have enough revenue coming in work hard on improving marketing and sales.   If you are suffering from indigestion (too much work), focus on Operations, People, and Systems and Processes

Make sure the team is clear on who does what, how they will be measured, and where the critical handoffs happen in the process.  Simple, but rare in small businesses.
