You’re Not Alone

You’re Not Alone

By: Ross Paterson

Many business owners begin to feel like giving up after running a business for a few years. It’s hard, stressful, and often unrewarding. 8 out of 10 small businesses fail within the first 18 months and another 50% of businesses fail within the first 5 years. These statistics are quite gloomy, leaving us asking the question “even if I make it, will my quality of life improve?”. The good news: you’re not alone.

Do you feel like giving up? Are you stressed about your business? Consider doing these 3 things:

Take a break. Get away. Clear your head. Even if it’s just for a day. Study after study proves that our minds and bodies need rest to perform at our highest capacity. You might be running on empty, take time to refuel.

Hire an assistant. If you’re like most business owners, you know everything about your business and consider yourself the expert of operations. However, getting caught doing day-to-day tasks takes away from your most important job, leading your company. You must be intentional about freeing up your schedule to focus on strategic priorities.

Surround yourself with smart people. It’s not a coincidence that successful people surround themselves with smart, driven, and entrepreneurial minded peers. These are the people that will help you make breakthroughs in your business. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice. You’re not alone.
